Sketches made on the Milford Track, New Zealand

Lake Te Anau sketch These are sketches from a May 2011 hike on the Milford Track in New Zealand. My sketches are small so they can fit in a pack. They are all about 6”x 9” approximately. They are made to help me to develop a colour pallet . I also pack a camera to remember details that will help me finish a studio painting. This is a four day hike that starts with a boat trip across Lake Te Anau .The trail follows the Clinton Valley, climbs the MacKinnon Pass, drops into a beech forest in the Arthur Valley  and is finished with a boat trip across the Milford Sound.
